Aruba is a Dutch protectorate and is governed by a locally elected parliament. Aruba’s strong ties with The Netherlands and Europe were established in colonial times and continue to this day through trade as much as through judicial, social, educational and cultural exchange. Dutch is the official language of Aruba, while locals speak a Creole language called Papiamento. English and Spanish are common ingredients of this multi-lingual and multi-cultural society.

About Aruba

Living in Aruba is a unique and rewarding experience and this is in greater part due to the Aruban's sincere hospitality. Aruba's continued popularity as an international vacation destination is boosted by over 40 aircraft arrivals and departures daily. Many flights come in direct from main cities in the U.S. and via connections from many more as well as from the European and South American continents. There are also many daily flights to other surrounding Caribbean islands. As an added convenience for passengers to the United States and/or Puerto Rico, Aruba has an agreement with the United States government to provide the services of the Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP). When passengers clear these procedures in Aruba, they are not required to clear them again at their final destination.
